The Wilderness of Assynt- 3 or 4 day
This wild expedition will see us explore the stunning and wild coastline of Assynt. We will choose our passage as the elements choose the day journeying along this rugged coast, exploring coves and caves and weaving our way between skerries. The ocean has sculpted this sandstone coastline to leave us with dramatic rocks, towering sea stacks and amazing cliffs.
We will travel along the rugged coastline of Assynt discovering islands, caves, arches and white sands. There we will come across the scattered crofting townships, with many interesting and important historical and archaeological sites, such as ancient Viking brochs. As we head north we will find an island where we will be out numbered by the seals and many hidden glens awash with native rowan, hazel, birch and alder.
The many summits of Quniag will rise from the coast as we near the head of the fjord of Glencoul. We journey up this beautiful loch to see the highest waterfall in the
Depending on our journey length, we may explore the RSPB resevre on Handa Island, where the cliffs are filled with Puffins, kittiwakes and razorbills amongst many other beautiful sea birds.
Food-We can offer various levels of food on your trip, from homemade venison chilli, to freshly cooked lobster. We work in partnership with 'The Achiltibuie Gardens' who provide us with amazing salads, breads, cakes, tarts. If it is a special occasion, we can tailor make the menu to your requirements, there is nothing Julie & Alison from 'The Achitlibuie Gardens' cant grow or cook!
Equipment-We provide all your kayaking equipment and kit, including:dry trousers, sea kayak touring jacket (with latex seals on the wrists, so you stay completely dry), thermals, paddling boots, dry bags, and we can also provide you with tent, sleeping bag and inflatable matress, if you need them.
